I discovered a passion for writing early…

In elementary school, I wrote fiction and poetry, and in high school I discovered my love of languages. I studied Russian in college, going on to earn my PhD and learning Czech, German, and French along the way. I continued to write and specialize in creative nonfiction, particularly memoir, short and long-form fiction, and poetry translation.

I’ve had a varied career as a professor and writer, teaching literature and creative writing, traveling, and speaking about my creative and scholarly work.

Leaving higher ed gave me the time and space to do what I love most: work one-on-one with writers to help them craft their stories and find their voice. My current projects combine my love of research and storytelling and prove that the best stories are still out there, waiting to be told.
